5 | carrots, cut into 1/2- inch slices | ||

1 | can | (15 ounces) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained | |

1 | can | (15.5 ounces) cannellini beans, rinsed and drained | |
|
|||
1 3/4 | cup | (14 ounces) chicken broth | |
|
|||
1 | cup | water | |
|
|||
3 | cloves | garlic, minced | |
|
|||
1 1/2 | teaspoons | hot pepper sauce (optional) | |
|
|||
1/2 | teaspoon | dried thyme | |
|
|||
1/2 | teaspoon | dried oregano | |
|
|||
1/2 | teaspoon | dried sage | |
|
|||
1/4 | teaspoon | ground black pepper | |

1 | bay leaf | ||

1 | can | (14.5 oucnes) petite diced tomatoes, undrained | |
|
Cut sausage into 1- inch pieces; set aside. Cook bacon in 4 to 5 quart pan over medium heat, stirring occasionally 8 to 10 minutes or until browned.
Add all remaining ingredients except sausage and tomatoes. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and cook, uncovered 20 minutes.
Add sausage and tomatoes. Return to a boil and cook 25 minutes longer or until mixture is slightly thickened. Remove bay leaf and serve.
