Hot Fudge: | |||
6 | ounces | semi sweet or 60% cacao chocolate chips or chocolate coarsely chopped | |

1/4 | cup | granulated sugar | |

2 | Tablespoons | unsalted butter | |
|
|||
1/2 | cup | half and half | |
|
|||
1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
|
|||
Grilled Cherries: | |||
1 | pound | fresh cherries, stems removed and pitted | |
|
|||
1 | container | (1.5 quarts) vanilla ice cream | |
|
Hot Fudge:
In a heavy saucepan, combine chocolate, sugar, butter and half and half. Stir the mixture continuously over medium heat until the chocolate and butter have melted and the sugar is dissolved.
When the sauce comes to a slow boil, lower the heat and continue to gently cook for 10 minutes longer stirring continously as the mixture thickens.
Remove pan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Store covered in the refrigerator.
Grilled Cherries:
Spray a grill pan with nonstick cooking spray and warm over medium high heat.
Add cherries. Once they begin to sizzle, flip or stir frequently so the cherries are grilled on all sides.
Once the cherries soften and become slight charred, 3 to 4 minutes, remove from heat.
Sundaes:
Add 1 to 2 scoops of ice cream into serving dishes. Add a tablespoon of hot fudge and 6 cherry halves. Repeat.
