No, we didn't type an extra "B." A BBBQ Burger is an all-beef patty that's been stuffed with Merkts Sharp Cheddar Cheese and chunks of applewood-smoked bacon, then grilled to juicy perfection. Serve this mouth-watering burger on a toasted bun with crispy onion rings/jalapenos and BBQ sauce... Woohoo!

|||
1 | pound | ground sirloin | |

4 | tablespoons | bacon, applewood smoked, cooked, cut into small chunks
|
|||
4 | tablespoons | BBQ sauce, prepared (KC style)
|
|||
8-12 | each/rounds | baked onion rings
|
|||
8-12 | each/rounds | pickled jalapeno peppers
|
|||
4 | burger buns | ||
|
Make eight 2-oz burger patties; press each one flat.
Top the center of one with 1 Tbsp Merkts Sharp Cheddar, leaving 1/4 inch of the burger edges w/o cheese.
Top with 1 Tbsp of bacon.
Put other patty on top and form into 1 burger, gently crimping the edges with your hands to seal in the cheese.
Repeat to make the other 3 burgers.
Grill 'em medium to well done in a nonstick pan on med-high heat.
Toast buns.
Put 2-3 onion rings on each bottom bun; top each w/2 jalapeno rounds.
Top w/patty, and spread 1 Tbsp BBQ sauce atop patty.
Plop on the top buns, serve hot and enjoy!
Tasty Tips:
It's okay if some of the cheese oozes from the burger after cooking-- in fact, it looks great.
Still not enough cheddar for you? Smear some more Merkts Sharp Cheddar on top of the burger patty, and then add the BBQ sauce.
Add your favorite toppings to a Merkts Sharp Cheddar-stuffed burger and build your own personalized creation.
Placing the toppings under the patty (crispy onion rings and jalapenos, or when using lettuce and tomatoes) lets you bite into the hot, juicy burger first and enjoy its true flavor.
Experiment with various types of burger buns: Kaiser, potato, whole wheat, or Kings Hawaiian.
Ground chuck or ground round can be used instead of ground sirloin.
Cook 2-3 strips of applewood-smoked bacon until crispy, then cut into small chunks for the recipe. For convenience, you can prepare this ahead of time.
